Calculation of Fees

Please note that fees are calculated by multiplying the weekly sessions total by the 50 weeks that we are open then divided by 12 equal instalments and then rounded up to the pound. This means that although the nursery is closed for 2 weeks in December the standing order should be the same as every other month as this is already factored into the calculation.

  • All bank holidays

Early Years Funding Policy at Peques

Peques is registered with the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham (LBHF) to receive early education funding for eligible children from the term after they turn 9 months old until they start Reception. This government funding is provided for 38 weeks per year. However, as Peques operates for 50 weeks each year, we stretch the funding across the full year. This means the total funded hours are deducted from monthly fees and evenly spread over 12 months. Please note, we do not offer term-time only places.

Types of Funding Available

  1. Universal Funding (15 hours per week)
  • Available to all children from the term after their 3rd birthday.
  • Not means-tested.
  • Stretched across the year as 11.4 hours per week, or 47.5 hours per month.
  • Peques will apply on behalf of families who are not eligible for the Working Parents Funding, provided forms are returned the previous term.
  1. Working Parents Funding (30 hours per week)
  • Available to eligible working families from the term after their child turns 9 months old.
  • Means-tested and eligibility is reviewed every term.
  • Stretched as 22.8 hours per week, or 95 hours per month.
  • Parents must apply via HMRC Childcare Choices and provide their eligibility code a term in advance.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Both parents (or the sole parent in a single-parent household) must be working.
  • Each parent must earn the equivalent of at least 16 hours per week at minimum or living wage.
  • Neither parent can earn more than £100,000 per year.
  • Eligibility codes are valid for three months and must be reconfirmed regularly.

Funding Terms and Conditions

Headcount Day

  • Children must attend on LBHF’s official Headcount Day to qualify for funding that term.

If a Child Leaves

  • If a child leaves before Headcount Day and funding has already been applied, the full term’s fees will be payable in full.
  • If a child leaves after Headcount Day, any overpaid funding will be returned to LBHF.

How Funding is Applied

  • Funding is calculated using Peques’ standard hourly rate.
  • It is then evenly distributed over 12 months and applied as a discount on monthly invoices.
  • Government funding does not cover the cost of meals or snacks.

Monthly Invoices Will Show:

  • Funded and unfunded hours
  • Meal supplement
  • Optional extras (such as outings and extra-curricular activities)
  • Sibling discount (applied after funding)
  • Total amount payable

Meal Supplement and Opt-Out Option

A monthly food supplement is charged and varies depending on the child’s age band. Parents may choose to opt out, however, specific guidelines must be followed:

  • Meals brought from home must closely match the daily nursery menu (in terms of ingredients, presentation, and format).
  • Parents will be notified of any allergens present in their child’s group and must ensure home meals do not contain these allergens.
  • This approach promotes allergy safety and supports inclusion during mealtimes.

Failure to follow these requirements may result in the withdrawal of the opt-out option.

Additional Information

  • Monthly Fees must be paid by standing order on the 24th of each month, one full calendar month in advance (e.g. September fees due on 24th July).
  • Funding is non-transferable and cannot be moved to another setting.
  • Missed Sessions (including absences due to sickness, holidays, or bank holidays) cannot be refunded or rescheduled.
  • Meal Supplements remain payable for the full month regardless of attendance.

How to Register

Admission to Peques is carried out through an application submitted by you as either a parent or other legal guardian of the child. Registration forms (Registration Forms, Terms and Conditions & Privacy Consent) should be completed and returned to Peques along with a non-refundable registration fee of £100.00. A confirmation email will be sent to you, which shall include the date the child is due to start at Peques, subject to availability. Upon receipt of the confirmation letter, a £1000 deposit is due irrespective of the start date to fully confirm the place. Should you need to withdraw the place then we require four months’ calendar notice prior to the child’s start date. Deposits may be forfeited if inadequate notice of withdrawal is given.

Settling In

For most children, starting nursery school is their first separation from their main carer and a major event in a child’s life. This time of transition can be stressful for both children and parents therefore we work in close partnership with the parents/carers, so that both child and parent feel supported as they work towards feeling comfortable and secure in their new setting. Parents are encouraged and are very welcome to call the nursery whenever they wish throughout the settling in period to maintain contact and receive updates on how their child is progressing. Children can only play and learn successfully if they are happy and confident. Our settling in procedure aims to assist parents/carers to help their children feel at ease at the nursery and to be confident that their parents will return at the end of their session to collect them.

DAY ONE (TUESDAY)

The parent/carer will be asked to bring the child for one hour between 9.15am and 10.15am to introduce them to the nursery and stay with them so they feel secure and can familiarise themselves with their new environment.

DAY TWO (WEDNESDAY)

This day the parent/carer will stay together with the child for one hour between 9.15am and 10.15am and then leave the child for another hour with the teachers between 10.15am and 11.15pm and will have lunch with their group. They will leave their contact number with the manager and stay nearby just in case the child gets upset in which case they will be contacted. It is imperative for the parent to always say goodbye before leaving and never sneak out. Otherwise, the child will not understand why they have disappeared and will get upset which will then resonate with them and they will associate being upset with their new nursery. Whilst the parent/carer is absent a member of staff will comfort and give reassurance to the child until the parent/carer returns.

DAY THREE (THURSDAY)

As long as the child is comfortable with the teachers and children of the group, this day they will stay without the parent/carer from 9.00am to 11.30pm and will have lunch with their group.
